Emergency medical technicians and a doctor were returning home after responding to an accident in difficult road conditions in south Iceland when their vehicle collided with another car. All three responders were injured, with Friðrik Jónas sustaining serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed.

Friðrik Jónas will discuss the initial response at the scene, the challenges of managing an incident in which the injured rescuers represent a significant proportion of the area’s emergency response personnel, and the personal impact of the accident.
