The presentation will cover current operational, technical and legal challenges regarding emergency communications in Europe. New information and communication technologies bring a lot of new opportunities and many sectors of society but also many challenges. The presentation will for instance look at the transition to newer generation of telecommunications networks, which can bring many improvements for emergency call centres and for people with disabilities. The presentation will also discuss the impact of technologies and trends such as artificial intelligence and homeworking in emergency call-centres. Finally, the presentation will also look at how European legislation is addressing such challenges with laws such as the European Electronic Communications Code, the European Accessibility Act or the EU AI Act.
