Ari Guðmundsson

Ari is a structural engineer, and heads a branch of Verkis engineering firm in the south of Iceland. Last three years he has led a team focusing on the protection of important infrastructure. The team has worked diligently on designing countermeasures og overseeing the building of them.

In the lecture Ari will cover the risk analasys made, when it became clear that volcanic activity could harm important infrastructure on the Reykjanes peninsula. He will specifically focus on the design and building of the protective dykes that already have proved their worth. Ari will also talk about other measures taken, i.e. the protection of the utility system, and the experience of those.
