In 2013-2015, the helicopter was called out 70 times to retrieve individuals from uninhabited areas. Sigrún will review her analysis of these callouts. The frequency of illness and accidents will be reviewed, the type of activites being undertaken when the accident occured, whether there is any difference between callouts involving Icelanders or foreign tourists and the cause of accidents. The role of rescuers in accidents in uninhabited areas will be discussed, as well as the importance of recording the nature of callouts and preventative measures.Further information on the project, including my research project for my master’s degree in emergency nursing.
