Axel is from Akureyri, Iceland where he works full-time as a professional Firefigter/EMT-A and also does air ambulance flights. He has been a member of ICE-SAR since 2005 and has been an instructor for ICE-SAR´s rescue school since 2008 and he is the wilderness medical training manager at the rescue school. He´s also an instructor for Wilderness Medical Associates International.
