EagleEyes helps search and rescue and public safety teams use drones more effectively during emergency response. It runs real time computer vision on live and recorded aerial imagery to help operators spot subtle clues they might otherwise miss. EagleEyes also streamlines drone operations by connecting the drone directly to the team’s map. It integrates with CalTopo to live track drone GPS positions in real time and lets operators drop full resolution geolocated photo points into the shared map while the drone is still in the air, so teams on the ground can access and act on the aerial perspective immediately. It supports live streaming so remote observers can view the drone’s live video feed from anywhere with an internet connection. In the piloting view, EagleEyes can bring in CalTopo map features based on the pilot’s preferences, so pilots can fly with reference to assigned search areas and see live team locations while flying. EagleEyes Pilot also enables enhanced airspace awareness by allowing pilots and air operations supervisors to see all active drones live locations in relation to one another and in reference to CalTopo map objects, improving coordination and airspace deconfliction. Beyond drone workflows, the same real time and post processing computer vision can also be applied to aerial imagery collected from helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, or other aerial platforms. This presentation will walk through practical workflows for using EagleEyes in real SAR operations, explain how it works, and outline where the platform is headed as capabilities continue to expand.
