Presentation of the book Í framlínu – lögreglumenn segja frá (On the Front Line – Police Officers Tell Their Stories), published in February 2026. In the book, dozens of police officers describe their experiences and reflections from a demanding profession. Its purpose is to give general readers broad insight into the world of police work and the impact the job has on officers’ own lives and on their families.
The presentation also discusses the idea of portraying other professions and volunteer organisations in a similar way. A book of this kind is likely to offer deeper insight than other forms of communication. It can help increase understanding of the lives and circumstances of those who take on front-line roles in responding to all kinds of emergencies, crises and traumatic events in society.
Júlíus is a folklorist and worked for many years as a police officer, as well as having experience as a member of a search-and-rescue team. He is the author and publisher of the recently released book Í framlínu – lögreglumenn segja frá (On the Front Line – Police Officers Tell Their Stories). Júlíus is also one of the three authors of Til taks (Ready to Respond), published in 2024, which tells the story of the Icelandic Coast Guard’s helicopter unit.
