This lecture will discuss the best patient care practices at high altitude and how to differentiate them from more common medical conditions, which may also occur. Case studies for Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro and other high altitude locations will be presented as well as basic physiology to put it all together. Objectives: Discuss normal and maladaptive physiology at high altitude and the problems that can arise. Review case based presentations and expand differential diagnosis Describe the treatment options and prevention strategies to minimize altitude morbidity and mortality
