The volcanic eruption that bergan on 19 March 2021 put the ICE-SAR rescue teams to the test, and none more than the rescue team Þorbjörn in Grindavík, stuck with a volcanic eruption in its backyard. After a short break, the peninsula burst into flames again this summer. It’s helpful to look back to see how we approached this challenge and realise what we can learn for future eruptions that are bound to happen in the near future.
