Is it normal when volunteer rescuers leaves his rescue team after handling a difficult scene? Can we do something to minimize such dropouts? Does peer support matters and are we able to deliver such support?

Over the years there has been active peer support in the rescue team in Gardabaer (HSG). The peer support is implemented and supervised by three members in the rescue team who are available after difficult scenes. As a part of a post-crisis follow up to the peer support, the team in Gardabaer has made an agreement to access a professional psychosocial support for their members.
