Anton Berg Carrasco, Chief Instructor of the Avalanche Department of the ICE-SAR Rescue Academy, will analyze accidents and near accidents caused by avalanches over the past 12 years in Iceland. His analysis will cover topics like which areas are more vulnerable to avalanches than others, the cause of and reason for accidents/near accidents related to avalanches, and the benefits of better avalanche warnings.He will also discuss the involvement, role, and responsibilities of different response parties in avalanche scenarios. He will also talk about the importance of appropriate training, and the experience of response parties involved in avalanche rescue scenarios.
Anton has been an instructor at the ICE-SAR Rescue Academy for several years, specializing mainly in avalanche and mountain rescue.
