The lecture is about the basic course in mountain search and rescue. Each year the mountain search and rescue department of the Search and Rescue Academy gives several basic courses in this field. Our goal is to spread the knowledge throughout the country and that teams in all parts of the country will have some ability to safely carry out search and rescue operations in mountainous regions.  Mountain search and rescue involve specialized skills that require a lot of work. Complex search and rescue operations in mountainous regions require a lot of human resources and equipment and often search and rescue teams must rely on support from other teams.  How is this specialization achieved?  What can participants expect when they attend this course and what doors will it open for them?  How important is the dissemination of this knowledge across the country and is further specialization needed?
